Bandits rob Best of the Best Thursday, December 8th 2005 |

Four armed bandits on Tuesday night robbed the Best of the Best Chinese Restaurant located at Windsor Forest, West Coast Demerara of some $450,000.
They also stole a DVD player, gold chains, a cellular phone, two digital cameras and six cartons of cigarettes. Police have not been able to apprehend them. According to a press release from the Police Public Relations Unit, Sao-Deng-Yi proprietor of the restaurant was in his yard cleaning his vehicle around 10.20 pm on Tuesday when the bandits pounced on him. The police release stated that the bandits jumped Sao's fence and confronted him. They took him into the dwelling area where three other family members were. Two of the bandits then stood guard over Sao and his son who were ordered to lie face down on the floor, while the others took his wife and daughter into a room from which they stole $350,000 and US$500. They also collected the articles, demanded the keys for the gate which was locked and fled the scene. |
