The 'Tigress' is in town!
She's a knockout! Trinidadian featherweight Vicky `The Princestown Tigress' Boodram strikes a pose, at the Hotel Tower yesterday, for photographer Lawrence Fanfair. bood

Trinidadian female boxer Vicky Boodram arrived in Guyana yesterday and immediately voiced her opinion of local fighters: "I know that Guyanese fighters are very tough," Boodram said from the Hotel Tower yesterday afternoon.

The 21-year-old petite featherweight, known as `The Princestown Tigress', knows Guyanese fighters well, having fought Shondell Alfred twice and Stephanie `Stepping Razor' George once.

She will match gloves with Guyanese Quinda Rogers in the lone female fight on the Guyana Indian Heritage Association's Knockout Mela card at the National Park this evening.

Boodram arrived here accompanied by her brother Nick, who will be in her corner. Her bout with Rogers is scheduled for four rounds. In the main event, Leon Moore will tackle Earl Deane in a featherweight contest over eight rounds.

The main bout was supposed to be between USA-based Guyanese super flyweight Elton `The Real Coolie Bully' Dharry and Orland Rogers.

However, Dharry sustained an injury to his right knee, which ruled him out of action. Mark Fernandes has taken his place, and will face Rogers in the main supporting event.

`Deadly' Denny Dalton will meet Troy Lewis in a junior middleweight fight, while there will be four amateur fights.
